Our MD, Ron Bright, an army veteran, is helping to restore an ex Royal Marines Gazelle helicopter for the army charity BLESMA. The team are amazed at his “chemistry magic” which is enabling the old epoxy coating to be stripped off the helicopter’s aluminium body panels in minutes instead of days using CHEMSET AP1105 Epoxy Stripper Solution instead of Methylene Chloride, which had been used previously.

The old coating has to be completely removed to check for signs of corrosion or metal fatigue before the panels are re-sprayed in the helicopter’s new camouflage colours.

The project is being used as a means of helping to educate and train military veterans in aircraft restoration skills and to give them flying experiences. The restoration team also give groundcrew support to the Gazelle Display Squadron which has a presence at many of the larger air shows in the UK.
