Enamelling Fact Sheet

CHEMSET® epoxy resin systems are easy to use and contain no solvents or other volatile substances that cause environmental damage.

CHEMSET® enamelling resins can be used for jewellery making, either doming or casting. Items can be embedded into CHEMSET® enamel provided they are dried first.

Careful mixing and weighing of the material will produce beautiful clear resin every time.

Most of the CHEMSET® resins need to be measured at a ratio of 2 parts resin to 1 part hardener by weight.

Place a mixing cup onto scales that weigh in increments of 0.01g. Pour in your resin, halve this weight and add that much hardener. Mix the resin and hardener together carefully, without beating in air, but thoroughly. Scrape the sides and bottom of the container to make sure it is all mixed together.

Leave to stand for 5 minutes to let any air bubbles disperse. Once mixed together you have approximately 45 to 60 minutes in which to use the resin. This is called the pot life.

Your room should have a minimum temperature of 18oC and this must be maintained for 16 hours until your item is cured.

Use the type A resins with the type A hardeners and the type B resins with the type B hardeners.

The shelf life will be at least 6 months if stored at a temperature of 15 – 25oC in original, closed, containers out of sunlight.

    Hello,
I am a specialist in the industrial optimization of jewelry and I would like to use your products for jewelry making. Could you answer a few questions?
    1. The injection will be made by centrifuge will there be a way to make your resin more fluid?
    2. Will the molds in RTV have a reaction problem with the resin?
    3. What is the % dilatation of your product?
    4. Will it be possible to have the technical documentation of your products?
    Courteously

Hello Robert, thank you for your message. The answers to your questions are as follows:
      1. We have a number of resins available, with differing viscosities, that you can choose from.
      2. As our resins do not contain solvents they are suitable for use with silicone moulds
      3. We’re not sure what you mean by % dilation. If you mean shrinkage during curing, epoxies typically have a shrinkage rate of less than 1%.
      4. We will email you a copy of our product information sheet for the CHEMSET Epoxy Enamelling Resins
